Welcome

School Indigo is a small, non-profit school offering progressive, individualized education in a positive, family-oriented environment. We currently enroll students in pre-school through 7th grade.

  • Our teachers are certified and have innovative approaches to teaching. We meet Idaho State Standards in each subject area, and our program includes instruction in foreign language, art, drama, music, and technology.
  • We keep our class sizes small (approximately 12 students per class). This allows us to customize each child’s education to best meet individual needs. Because of this individualized education, students move through various levels based on their abilities, not their age. Small class size also provides teachers the opportunity to get to know each child’s personality and develop a strong relationship with him/her. This close relationship is crucial in fostering students’ love of learning and helping them achieve success in their educational endeavors.
  • Along with many great educational theorists and educators, we maintain that social curriculum is as important as academic curriculum. To this end, we provide an environment that encourages students to be accountable, respectful, and solve their problems in a peaceful manner. We promote these skills through use of the Love and Logic® discipline theory, Responsive Classroom® teaching practices, and our Peace Education program. Our aim is to help students be prepared to successfully and joyfully navigate through their future academic, social and emotional challenges and opportunities.
  • We believe a key component to a student’s success is a strong partnership between home and school. Parents and Indigo staff are in constant communication throughout the school year, and parents are encouraged to attend monthly parent council meetings, volunteer in and out of the classroom and serve on various committees within the school.
  • As members of humanity, we believe it is essential to give back to our local community and to society as a whole. Our students participate in various local and national service projects throughout the year. These projects promote positive self-esteem and self-worth, and the students see first hand how their contributions help make a difference in the world.
  • Although we have no religious affiliations, we maintain that it is important to respect and appreciate a wide variety of cultures and beliefs. We promote cultural and diversity awareness through discussion, research, projects, guest speakers, learning multicultural songs and dances and celebrating various cultural holidays.
